“What’s in bloom?”

Notes from Nature 
This sounds like the kind of activity which would attract lots of people. Does anyone know if there are similar activities elsewhere in the country? Perhaps even a central list of them? I guess that collecting lots of data on what’s blooming, when and where, is something botanists would find very interesting!
